Mrs Blatherwick was delighted and proud to have the privilege of delivering more than 15 hampers of food and extras (Two cars full!) to Leicester Charity “Open Hands” on Friday. Throughout the year they provide food parcels and other essential items to families in need, and the hampers collected and decorated by the classes at Hazel will be distributed over the festive period.
Learning Behaviour Mentor Miss Thorpe coordinated the project in school in response to children and staff wanting to help others in this, the season of goodwill. We were all stunned by the amount of gifts given by our families – both those who celebrate Christmas and those who don’t.
“Open Hands”, based in nearby Highfields, offers the opportunity for those struggling financially to access an emergency supply of food. We hope that whoever receives our hampers enjoy something a little special this Christmas time.
